Join Us in Making a Difference

Help us improve the education of thousands of children by putting books in their homes. “Children who grow up with access to 500 or more books attain 3.2 more years of schooling, on average than those who grow up with few or no books.” (World Literacy Foundation 2019)

We are committed to strengthen and support marginalized communities by giving our time and talents on service projects emphasizing education and health while inspiring others to give and do the same.

Our service projects focus on removing barriers, providing resources and creating equitable opportunities for these communities to be successful in their pursuit of education and employment.

Who
we are

We are super excited to kick start this service organization in honor of our Mother, Geraldine “Geri” Stewart!

Our vision is simple: Together. Doing More.

We’d like to gather groups of volunteers focused on contributions of time and skills, working together to further and fulfill the philanthropic legacy of Geri. Our mission is guided by her works as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, CASA, Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Project G.R.E.E.N, Medical advocacy and more.

Mission: We are committed to strengthen and support youth and the elderly in under-served communities by giving our time and talents on service projects emphasizing education and health while inspiring others to do the same as well as creating care closets within schools to enable equal opportunity for all students to be successful in their pursuit of education.

Our team members want to be “boots on the ground”, “hands-on” type volunteers directly engaging and doing work to participate in service projects that support our mission…. and we’d like to provide opportunities.

Hope to hear from you soon and looking forward to serving with you!

Sincerely,

Geri’s Girls

Make an impact today

By providing books to children in low-income homes to take and keep at home, we can help break the link between poverty and poor academic success.

Geri’s Locker Bookstores gets books in the hands of the kids who need them the most! By partnering with community-supporting organizations like Foundation Communities, AISD, Texas Advocacy Project, YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs and Foster Village Austin, Geri’s Locker creates bookstores where the kids ARE and they can come pick out books to KEEP for FREE!

Geri’s Locker is accepting donations for purchase of bookstore materials including book shelves, posters and check out materials as well as new or gently used books.

Through our partnership with Books for International Goodwill,
every $25 = 200 children’s books!

Celebrate #GivingTuesday and Join Us in supporting our communities in their pursuit of education and employment.

Romans 12:6-8 says “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”

Together we can make a difference in ourselves, in each other and in our communities.

Ongoing Opportunites

It is a gift to serve, and a rare chance to directly help individuals in your community one meal at a time. In addition to lunch time meal-delivery, there are many other ways to serve the elderly and adults with disabilities in greater Austin. Whether you have 1 hour a week or just a flexible schedule, there are many serving opportunties! Find one that’s perfect for you and your family!

Do you have 15-20 hours per month? Become a CASA Volunteer!

CASA volunteers come from every walk of life and share a commitment to improving children’s lives, a willingness to learn and an open mind towards life experiences different from their own. No special education, experience or background is needed.

You can speak up for a child when they find themselves in a world filled with social workers, lawyers, judges and courtrooms where life-altering decisions are made on their behalf.
